dog in kennel

The Bakersfield SPCA is no longer offering public boarding services. This change became effective May 1, 2015. Although public boarding provides a revenue stream, the revenue is minimal and the need for more kennel space for those lost souls needing a temporary shelter until they find a new home is our utmost goal.

After much discussion and thought, we have decided to open up the 24 boarding kennels to adoption kennels. This will allow us to take in more stray, abandoned and owner turn in dogs to find them that new forever home. With this in mind we will do some renovation at the shelter to the only 12 kennels which do not have any cooling, heating or indoor areas for dogs. These 12 kennels will be demolished. Stay tuned for what may come in their place.
